ok, so the sonoma(94 standard cab/bed, 4.3 Vortec, automatic) was running great. i had the issue with the frame, but whatever. engine was really good, transmission shifted great. last night, heading home from a party, i ran over something on the highway, i have no idea what it was, but it was solid as hell. smacked the hell out of the skid plate and transmission crossmember, hard enough to throw the truck up in the air a little. ever since then, my transmission shifts have been getting worse and worse. didn't do too bad last night, made it home fine. but went to a birthday lunch a few hours ago. on the drive home, riding low as i could again, scraped the trans xmemeber making a turn, and the shifts are completely screwed now. it jams into every gear. parked it, looked underneath, no visible damage, no holes or leaks. but i have to hold the brakes as hard as i can while stopped at a red light, and it still wants to jump forward. what could cause this? seems like it's all from the torque converter. would it have been possible to hit the xmember hard enough to pull the trans back? i was planing on driving and dragging it til i couldn't anymore to backhalf it, i think i'm there. i'm having all kinds of bad luck with this truck.

yeah, i know. i didn't know there was any kind of real problem with it until today driving it home. it is parked until i can get it in a shop and start figuring out what i need to do with it. i already have to back half it, might as well rebuild a transmission while i'm at it. this truck is about to see a LOT of downtime.
