I'm new to all of this stuff, but I was wondering if the track width for the rear was the dist between the wheels?
because I'm looking for a rear end to use on my B2200 thats getting a 302 swap. The mustang was 57" track and the mazda was 55.5"
track width is the measurment from the center of a tire on an axle to the center of the other tire on the same axle. This of course will vary with wheel offset. Break out the tape and measure hub to hub width.
off topic from this, but would I be able to just change the hubs on the front to have the same bolt pattern as the mustang rear end?
I've never even looked at them before and how they mount on
scott, no you cant swap the hubs.
your 302 is goin to have more power than you will be able to put to the ground. whati mean is youll have tire spin no matter what. i suggest you use a late 80-90s toyota rear axle. perfect width for you mazda, and the toy axles are strong. if for some odd reason you want a different axle, get a 9 inch, and have it narrowed. you can buy new axles shafts for relly cheap. and your done.
You can get redrilled hubs, or like the ones I bought....NO limit customs. Machined front hubs, direct bolt in and have both s-10 and toyota patterns pre drilled.
Look up Clint( toyboy89 I think ) about the no limit hubs, and Russd always recomends someone about redrilling the front hubs...if you want to go that route.
I just can't remember who he reccomends though.
I'm in Canada though, and shipping would be a pain for the weight. There is an automotive machiine shop around here, I just wanted to see if there were any alternatives
And I'm surprised that the Toyota rear would hold up when the truck is basically the same size as the Mazda.
So the Toyota would tuck under nicely instead of getting a Mustang rear narrowed down?
I just checked out No Limit and totally forgot about them being out in Vancouver, that was really good to see
