Ok I know this has been covered before but I really can't remember what has to be done for a Sanden type A/C compressor to be used as an engine driven air compressor. I'm ready to buy what I need and I'm a little tired of running 2 electric compressors and having them take more time than I care to mention. Thanks for the help and please be as specific as you can.

Once you go through a couple of sandens, you will realize it was not worth fabing brackets and takeing the time to do it. So talking from my own experience (4 sandens), do yourself a favor, and get a york. It will save you alot more time and money(not to mention it fill 12 gallons a hell of alot faster) in the long run.

sanden a/c compressor is not designed to do what you want it to. the york is built just like a shop air compressor. you even have to check the oil level, and change the oil in it. but you will be happier with the york, in both long run, and air volume

do a search on here, theres some offroad company that makes a modified sanden, it uses grease instead of oil...... like 380 dollars, but not nearly as big as the yorks.... rudy (maddawg) on here has one.

Ok I know it's difficult to build the brackets for the Sanden but I'm actually building a small block Ford 289 for my truck so bracketry isn't really an issue. As for the Yorks I have a used one but how do you build or buy the brackets for that to fit the small block? Thanks again. Keep the ideas coming

I like the sanden as well and it should be a direct drop in for my motor that's being built for my blazer. The york...is an eyesore. Sure it may be bigger, push more air and overall simply work better...but it looks dog ugly in the engine compartment. And with my motor using billet pulleys and brackets, and lots of polished goodies and chrome through-out, I think a york would be like a turd in the punch bowl. go to www.s10forum.com and do a search for sanden compressors. there's a guy there who's been running 2 of them for some time now and really knows his stuff
