im getting ready to install two slam bags and i know i am suposed to use loctite 565. i have been all over the place around there trying to find some and the only place that has it is closed until monday. I really need to get these bags in this weekend so my question is will permatex thread sealant with teflon be good enough to use?

if your using it for the airline fitting in the bag you can use pipe sealant, i think teflon is the samething. I've actually never heard of someone using locktight for sealing the fitting. If you want locktight, you can get either the red or the blue. The blue is for if your gonna losen it up agian later, the red is a permanent thing. Locktight is used to lock a nut or something with threads from coming back out. Its not really used for sealing a fitting from leaking air if thats what you were gonna use it for. But a walmart or sears, or any store like that will carry both kinds of locktight and pipe sealent.

i am definately not using teflon tape. the slam bag says to use loctite 565 or an equal thread sealant. I think the permatex thread sealant will work fine.

They also make liquid teflon tape - I dont think that would void the warranty since its about the same as the 565

Several companys want you to use locktite instead of teflon for a sealant to keep you from over tightening the fitting. I know CNC brakes and Wilwood wants their brake line fittings locktited into the master cylinders to keep from cracking the aluminum body.

Blue locktite will work, Make sure the threads are really clean (on both parts) use brake cleaner or denatured alcohol or some other cleaner like that to clean the threadsor it won't work.
