My truck had one of those ribbon types that plugged in. Is there any way to tie a new horn button in line with the old wire? Its a 99 ford ranger if that helps.

I'm not sure I understand the "ribbon" wire but if it is just wires you can cut and splice that and extend your wires and put whatever horn button you would like. Pictures always help, but I'm pretty sure that should work

i doubt it since hte horn wiring is in the clock spring. i put my horn on a push button switch(came w/ my door popper kit) and ran it through the factory wires, works good.

I tried splicing it in and grounding a horn switch but I guess I didnt have it in the right one.

Did you try sending a postive or negative to the wire? Alot of factory horns use negative triggers to activate the horn.

There should be a harness under your dash that you can see go into the steering collumn. Ground a computer safe test lite and probe it, the horn will honk. Then you can either hook a button up there or trace that into the ribbon wire in the steering wheel.

my switche doesn have a ground, one wire goes in, other goes out. when you push the button, it makes the 2 wires contact. andy, first time i got to look at your truck up close was at scrapefest, man i love that thing!

The horn blow switches are underneath the driver side air bag module in the steering wheel. The switches are powered through the air bag sliding contact and ground through the steering column.
yellow/light green is the wire you need to put a push button switch in, its the one that activates the relay.thats after the air bag slide, in front of the air bag slide its a black/white wire.
