I just had the second person reply to an add I have in this site saying they'll pay me with a certified check. This sounds so phony to me, any one have any experience with this?

certified checks are writin by the buyers bank or credit union. Certified means that the funds are verified as being in the bank and the check is supposedly good. Only take it if the bank name checks out and the funds are for the exact amount agreed for the purchase

scam!

if you want to make sure you arent getting screwed, have the money wire transferred to your account or through western union. cash talks too. an actual buyer who is serious will not mind doing a transfer for at least part of the funds

I have had alot of replys like this. If you look up on the internet there are alot of stories about it... They are basically overpayment scams. They are going to send you a "certified check" that is way over what you are asking for and want you to wire money to their "shipping company"... its a load of crap. I have received a $1000 check and a $800 check. Both crap. We even called up the lady who one of the check was from and she said she got her identity stolen.... They all have broken english and neven say anything useful.
