So i am haveing a problem with my plasma cutter. I start to cut and it cuts just fine for a couple of inches, but then it just stops. and it wont let me start again with out turning off the power and letting it set for a few seconds. if i dont do that, it just makes a beeping sound. i can go a little farther on sheetmetal, but when i do like 1/4 in. it stops after about 2 inches. I have tried more air presure and i have tried less air presure. It is a Thermal Dynamics Cuttmaster 51, witch should be able to cut up to 1/2 inch. any help would be great, thanks
do you have a good ground?
I had a similar problem with my miller spectrum 2050, turns out i just needed to tighten the bolt that holds the ground cable to the clamp.
also, are you draging the tip arrcos the surface? if so, try raising it just a bit and see if that lets it go further.

check for moisture in your moisture trap and in your tip if not u may have to replace your start cartridge it is located in the head of the gun just like u would replace a tip just had the same problem with mine the srart cartridge is black about the size of a nickel 3/4s long and its only a couple bucks the part number is 9-8213 its called a start cartridge let me no if it works for u
^ almost 100% sure its moisture, make sure you are running a trap, i run a disposable one at the back of the plasma, and one at the comp.
ok thanks, ill check for moisture and see where that gets me.
i thought all plasmas came with a moisture filter at the inlet of the machine....maybee its full? idk.
but for sure you should have one at the exit of your compressed line before the plas.
