i am trying to put my 302 into my ranger and i cant figure something out. i have a toyota front clip on this ranger and with the motor lowered down it hits the steering rods and shock or whatever it is that goes across. what do i do? do i need to change to a rack and pinion steering? will that fix it? the transmission is hitting the transmission tunnel that has already been raised and its hitting the steering in the front!!!!! what to do?!?!?

i looked up a few rack options if thats the route i am suppose to go... they ask length and rack travel? they also say somethign about turns lock to lock? and a couple i was looking at mention standard ratio and another mentions quick ratio...what do these things mean? . do you happen to know what to suggest for me? i am thinking about just going to autozone to pick one up for now so i can mach it up and order a nicer one later. any suggestions what to ask for? thanks so much for yor help, im really getting aggravated over here...hah

i was gonna put one in my isuzu and i was gonna have the same problem. does your 302 have a front sump oil pan on it? mine did and i was juss gonna be a rear sump kit.

yea mine has the front sump.. what is this rear sump kit you are talking about? where can i find info and stuff on that?

This is one reason people dont put Ford motors in hotrods. Lol. More work because of the front sump pan. I've never seen a rear sump kit for them, but if it exists, I bet Summit would have it.

dual sump. it has minimal sump in the front with a larger sump in rear that what I used check my profile. let me know if I can help any other way.

how much smaller is the front sump with that dual sump?that second sump may then run into my engine crossmember and still cause me problems.. but maybe not.

anyone else knwo any information about me possibly doing rack and pinion?

the dual sump pans only hold about a quart in the front. to change to a dual sump you need a pan from a fox body car with a v8(79-92 mustang, 83-89 t-bird and fairmont) you will also need the pick-up tube from the same make and model.

use an explorere steel pan, 90 bux from the dealer. get the oil pump tube and screen for it to. tis a rear sump cuz of the engine xmember and rack n pinion steering.
