welder/generators

well, im going to rent a welder to weld the notch and brackets to my mazda and i dont have a 225 outlet in my garage, so my buddy suggested using a welder/generator in order to get a higher amperage. ive never messed with any of these, any suggestions on what kind to get? or am i ok with a 110 that i can plug into my garage?

ive seen many people use the 110 welders to fab on their trucks. they work. they do not produce a good looking weld. but they work. they dont penetrate the metal as good as it should. but they work. home depot sells a 110 welder, flux core wire for around 300 bucks..
