Whats up i have a 95 Ranger and i want to shave my mirros, well i have everythgin down pat all the paint is off filler plate fits perfect just really wondering about my window, i cant really take it out becasue i wouldnt know how to put it back in , So is it safe for my window to weld the filler plate on when the window is down? Like would the heat break the glass?

no it wont break, it wont get that hot.. but put a towel or preferably a blanket, folded over a few times, over the hole between your door and door panel so your window doesnt get 'pitted'.. and cover up the windshield too from welding and griding.

Yeah cause weld spatter that hits a piece of glass sucks!!! Cover everything surrounding the spot you are welding i usually go over boared with the masking job. It may take longer but its worth not having to replace parts cause of weld splatter. Just my two cents

newspaper burns through too easily.. if you do anything, use a ton of blankets.

umm, keep your window up and cover it with a blanket or something. I used poster board. Really not a problem due to the fact that the windows are a vertical surface. My .02.
