Mazda protoge CV axles

dose any body know how to change the cv axles on a 1995 mazda protoge? I got the cv axle out but the end is still in the tranny and I cant figure out how to get the end out of the tranny.... I have tried about everything and im about to just weld a slide hammer to it and try to get it out that way..... any help would be apreciatted. Thanks ahead of time later
