widest tires for 22x8.5

does anyone know what the widest tire such as a 285/30/22 would be able to fit a 22x8.5?

i want the widest tire but it cant be too big for a 8.5. the wheels im thinkin about gettin dont get any wider for the 22

285 is too wide for a 8.5 inch wide wheel. a 255 is the widest tire you should put on an 8.5. You could get away with a 265 but it will look strange.

thanks that what i was wantin to know, i used a tire calculator to see how big was too big but it allows you to do what ever you enter in to its calculation so i didnt have much help from it. thanks again
