I just got my Dakota laid out, and im noticing some serious pinion lash while i drive. It isnt terrible but bad enough to notice it. I just wanted to know how long i can drive with the rear end like that before it begins to really mess up my rear end?
Thanks
I would fix it asap. Your pinion seal and bearing could poop on you with the quickness.
did you set the pinion angle at ride hieght?
i wasnt the one who did it, but i talked to the guy and he said that they didnt have to change the pinion angle. They said it was alright.
technically pinion lash is the pinion gear lash to the ring gear in the rear end....
so how does bagging a truck affect that?
It wouldnt affect that. Thats just slop in the rear end, so it was probably like that before and got worse, or the shop fucked it up somehow.
ha....i thought he was talking about shimming the pinion gear in or out so his gear mesh was correct.
From what I understand, its pretty much the distance between the teeth on the pinion and ring gear. There shouldn't be a whole lot of play.
