so i started this ranger today and i have to say that control arms might be the greatest invention ever we pulled the truck in and it started great got the bed off got the frame cleaned out and cut all the bull shit out that you don't need in the rear and me and my buddy decided to start with the front so we get the steering and the spindle and shocks all out and then comes the beam itself and it all went down hill well to make a long story short i have the entire beam and radious arm out of the truck still attached to each other b/c the kingpin is seized and i can't get it out we tried breaker bar w/ a cheater bar on it (broke that) my impact (and it aint no bitch the new snap on XT7100) nothing so i am going to take it to a machine shop to see if they can get it out tomorrow but who knows. just had to vent if anyone has any tips on taking those things apart it would help
im out

on my buddies ranger, we used a 1" drive impact to get that bolt loose, and it was still a bitch. So was holding the 1" impact up over yor head while the truck was on a lift, it's a heavy son of a bitch...

what year ranger? 83-88 have balljoitns in teh spindle and 89-97 have them in teh spindle. use a big ass hammer on the spindle to get theml oose w/ some pb blaster.

rangers don't have kingpins, so i assume you're talking about the bolt through the beam that holds the spring and radius arm...remove the nut that retains the spring, remove the spring, then remove the nut directly below that that holds the radius arm. try some pb blaster or wd40 down the shaft of the bolt, and give it time to work.
when you get it apart, clean the bolt up with a wire wheel and put a skim of anti-sieze over the entire length of the bolt.
if you do mangle the bolt, i believe they're a 3/4" x 8" or so grade 8 bolt, so you should be able to find new ones pretty easily.

yeah that is the bolt i am talking about it looks like the side that is not coming apart has been takin apart before and i am thinkin it is cross threaded but i let it soak in pb for while and nothing it is a 95 ranger

my next suggestion would be a cutting torch and air chisel, and a trip to the hardware store.

soak it w/ pblaster. aslo takin the beam and radius arm out and goind it off the truck will take the bind of them.
