is it safe to buy one of these, meaning will it not leak, will the local shop even fill it? When searching, what regulations do they have to pass, so I can ask the seller if they have passed, and proof of that before I buy.

also, whats the average size you guys use? 80 is too big for the garage/mobility aspect. would something like 40CF be fine? im guessing these ebay ones are not good, so I will probably go to the local shop. These are like acetylene tanks and stuff, not for argon/oxygen i guess.

only thing i've bought is a co2 tank for my keg, but i bought it knowing it was out of date and just planned on using it as an exchange core at the welding supply store. saved me about $50 or $60 by doing it that way. I don't know if the test fee is different for different gasses, but it was only $20 to get mine tested and re-dated for 3 more years. Not too bad overall, just call your welding supply place and ask them what thier policy is on that kinda stuff.

Unless its new man, I would make sure its checked befoer I bought it, I don't really know what you're lookin at, but i think it would be a better bet to just get one from a local supply than do all that. As far as getting it filled, the compaies we have around here will not fill anything other than they're own bottles unless they test it and have approved it first, and that can cost upwards of about 125.00, some more, some less. Also, I would suggest something over a 90 CF, anything less and you'll be filling that thing a few times if you're doing a lot of welding

Man I bought a new one on Ebay, it is empty when you get it, then I took it to Airgas here in town and traded it for a full one for like 15 bucks. I paid like $100 for mine off Ebay with free shipping. In town they want like 250-300 for them to buy out right. They do leases on them but you have to do a agreement to have it filled weekly, theres no way I would have ever been able to use that much gas.

in tacoma/puyallup i paid 120 for my 80, and 95 for my 40. there like 35-40 to fill them. just go to your local shop and see how much they cost. i was gonna get one off ebay, but the shipping was outragous (SP) might wanna check craigs list too. only thing you gotta worry about is if there a rental tank. if they are, you cant exchange them. they do all the testing before the fill them. so its kinda pointless buying a brand new one, cuz you just exchange em
