Alright I just bought a welder (lincoln pro mig 175) and I was wondering, I have a 50 amp, 250volt plug in my garage, but the welder is a 208/230 volt, can I plug the welder up to this outlet? It looks to be the same plug setup, but I have read some plugs are hot/hot/neutral and some are hot/hot/ground.......anybody know FOR SURE?

your outlet socket is rated at 50 amps which is what its suppose to be to be able to run 220. so you should be able to. it wont hurt anything to try.

check your owners manual
it should be hot hot ground for the welder
check the panel, if it is the main panel the ground and neutral go to the same bus bar anyway
if it is a subpanel, the neutral and ground should be seperate, but you can always change the wire(move from ground bus bar to neutral) if that is what your manual calls for

All the plugs I put in are hot hot ground

Yea, they're Hot-Hot-Ground, Grant. I had to put a new plug in when I got my Miller. Just plug it in and turn it on. The worst that could happen is you blow a breaker and have to reset it.

from the reviews ive read its the exact same as the millermatic 175, but 60-70 bucks cheaper. if u buy in store, and the miller off ebay from one company ive found. or pay 100+ more for the miller retail. Once I get started on something more major than removing a bolt. I will let you know how i like it. But, my buddy ryan in orlando has done a lot of jobs with it and no problems. i can get some pics of his work, if u want to im me on aim sometime.

Millers are made in the USA, and have a better warrantee.
