i had the 3200hd and had no problems with it. And i did all the stuff you said you wanted to do with it.

the lincolns at hd dont have enough amperage to get good penetration on frames and whatnot. I would look at the hobart handler 180. i got mine for 600.

k i hear ya on abuse but im not gonna be opening a shop... so im gonna use this maybe at the very max once or twice a weekend. ya know a 1,000 welder is out the question for me to purchase to let it sit in the garage and collect dust once im done with my welds. ya know

yes, its not so much that lincolns dont have the power, its that the 100a HD welder is pushing it for frame work. If you buy a higher model, like the 175 plus, you will be fine. That is comparable to the Miller 210, especially in price.

Its about duty cycle, you will be welding and waiting, welding and waiting. The duty cycle of the smaller welder will easily piss you off at full throttle all the time.

A welder is a big purchase, do you want to make it twice? If you are just going to buy a low power cheap welder, it would be cheaper just to rent a wire feed once in a while and take it out on their equipment. If it were me and it was my money, I would buy the welder that would make high quality welds with a short duty cycle. I didnt need a 170t when I bought my welder, but after building a frame with it I am damn glad I overbought.

Russ is right ...a lincoln 100hd welder aint gonna cut it ....just go for something like the 175 ..... I have a lincoln and love it
