Pulling power?Daily driving?Dependability? Most bang for the buck?
CUMMINS..No IFS ANDS OR BUTS. Duramax= pretty boy truck.
Cummings all the way, a durimax is like a craker jack prize next to one of them things.
My first cummins I put 247k on it. One trans and an injection pump. I pulled a trailer almost everyday. I bought an 05 in July and I already have over 30k on it. I'm averaging about 20 MPG. My Dad has an 2001 with 120k on it and it's going strong. They're the best thing going. turbodieselregister.com is a great site dedicated to the Cummins. Read along there to get some great info on it.

Horrible gas milage

My dad has a 06 Ford 350 FX4. He pulls a huge camper, but it loves that diesel. I'm looking for something that will pull my 24ft enclosed with my Tahoe (when it's complete in it. OR, if another hurricane comes, everything that I can get out of house. Torn between a Chevy and Dodge. Oh yeah, it'll be daily driven.
I have a buddy with a Duramax and it seems it's always breaking. From bad mileage(replacing injectors to cure) to problems with the column, to electric door lock/window problems. Now that doesn't make all Duramax's bad, but I'm personally on the 2nd cummins and the mileage it great. I get over 20 unloaded and about 17 when I pull about 4500 pounds. The one thing Chevy has in it's favor is the Allison auto. Test drive each truck before you make a decision, there may be something you don't like about the interior in one truck, or the way one drives. It's alot of money either way you go but you can damn near keep it forever if you take good care of it.
