I finished my bodydrop, and plugged every harness back together, now i have vacuum issues. I have an 01s10 with the 2.2 and it only has vaccuum in like 3 places, they are hooked up, my truck starts for a second and dies. the fuel pump is on and i gave it gas and got it to start for 10 minutes, turned it off and it will not start again, my mechanic says its a vacuum issue and its either the canister on the fender, or the evaporater down by the passenger side frame horn, both have been moved and depending on their angle it will kickover or wont even turn on. has anyone had this problem? and if so what did you do to correct it? i need to drive my truck again!! thanks in advance guys...

check the ground on the back of the frame where the bumper use to mount it might not have a good enough ground try that and get back to me if not we can try sumthin else.

check your grounds everywhere that will most likely be your problem.

alright, i will, i moved the battery to the bed and grounded it to the frame, up front i attached the old ground to the batt to the frame also, should be ok right?? i had it started for 10 minutes, shut it off wired the positive throught the frame to the front permanatly and it wont stay on again, turns over, starts for a sec and dies, and its fuel injected. the only way i got it started the first time was pumping the gas...

you need to have it grounded to the frame and to the block and the ground to the fuel must be good it is the one at the back of the frame

my dime did the same thing.. i realized that i had 2 open nipples on top of the throttle body, coverd them with my fingers and it was solved.. so what i did was took a small peice of vacum line and connected both together and it worked perfectly... hope this helps..

COULD ALSO BE A SECURITY ISSUE...IS THE SECURITY LIGHT ON, ON THE DASH....IF IT IS THAT THE PROBLEM...WITH A SECURITY CONSERN THE VEHICLE CAN START, RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND DIE...

alright well i just talk to my buddy that does alarms, and he said, the security light is because the computer was unplugged and he asked what key i was using to start the truck, i said the spare (metal key). he said to use the stock key and hes almost garunteed it will start no problem. otherwise i need to get it reprogrammed for $100 at the dealer. im at work i will try it and let you all know what happens.. thanks for all the help so far guys

I'm assuming you have an aftermarket cd player, if so after the tear down and rebuild its possible the orange wire coming from the stock radio harness that controls the speed sensitive volume on the 00-up models, if that wire grounds out it cuts the fuel to engine until the sort id fixed, i pulled my cd to put a new one in, i drove across town and that wire grounded out and the speedo went to 100 and is died talk about a pain in the ass to figure out what happened.
