Do u know if the rx7 irs u have is out of a turbo or non turbo model? I had to narrow mine also & after lookin for a shop here to narrow the axles, I found out accordin to haynes manual that the the non turbo axles are in fact just under 2" narrower(turbo 25.1" non turbo 23.4"). Now I havent installed the axles yet bcuz Im not at tat point yet but the parts store does show 2 different axles.

i actually think it came out of a non turbo but not exactly sure...where would i measure to, to find out the length so i know.....i have the wheels moved in right now and the axles fit in, but im not sure if when it airs up if the axles are gonna bind or not, i guess there is only one way to find out......
also there wouldnt happen to be another car out there that the axles would be interchangeable and shorter?

haha yeah its me james

if you call them, tell them they are cv axles not halfshafts, maybe they will give you a diff price.

Get a piece of 1 1/4 .125 wall DOM, and cut your halfshaft and sleve it. I had them that way on my truck for 3 years, never had a problem with it breaking, or any vibration. I think I have an extra one that is narrowed I had for a spare, but I don't need it anymore because I sold the truck. If you have any questions, let me know

thanks man....maybe ill do that then. is the axle just steel? and besides just welding the ends of the tubing did drill any holes in it and plug weld it or anything like that? a pic of that narrowed one u have would be great, thanks man.
