I actually did something similiar...I was waiting on gettin my car back from work I was getting done and I jumped in to just get some of the little stuff done and started working there. Definitly helps knowing stuff but just make sure that your not taken advantage of. Best of luck to ya!

The only way to learn is hands on, ive been in tech school for 6 months, and ive been workin at a body shop for a month, and have already learned more there, that is why im not coming back to school, its a waste of time and money, in my opinion, but some will differ

Ask them if they would mind if you could hang around and help them out with small stuff. Tell them your willing to help out for free (you'll get more out of learning what they do then what they would offer to pay ya + its a free education and might be your only choice) and never say no to trying something out. Had an interest in welding and they asked me if I wanted to try and I burned the hell out of myself but I learned. Just dont get on thier nerves and think you know more then them. lol

The way I plan on doing it is with my school. I have to take math, geography, science, and english for the first half of the year. The second half, I can apprentice with a joruney person (probably going to be at a body shop) and get paird and earn crdits at the same timeI think its a pretty sweet deal
