actually SD does not have a transmission crossmember. they have a carrier bearing crossmember.
Its pretty easy to mod your stock tranny crossmember to allow you to lay out. There are a couple different styles of crossmember.
If its just the 3 bolts and triangle plate holding you up pn the drivers side, ditch the plate and use some 3/8" socket head screws. They will fit through the lower holes in the frame and up to secure the crossmember to the 'shelf' on the frame.
If there is a part hanging low on the driver side as well, you should be able to just cut it off level with the bottom of the frame and re-plate it for strength.

I used allen head bolts and did not have to drill the holes out much on the bottom side of the frame.
I used a long allen wrench to put the bolt through the bottom side up to the top and bolted it in, ditching the triangle bottom bracket.

i just took off the triangle plate on the ds and welded the bolts flush with the bottom of the frame and put a nut on the top. on the ps i just cut off the hump and plated it flat. an easy job to save you some $

suicide doors does not sale a tranny x-member for s10's. Everyone gets that one confused with the raised tank xmember & thier carrier bearing x-member.

The Devious tranny x-member....dont bother wasting your time with it either...everyone that has bought one still has to mod it anyways in order to be able to lay out ...so why waste your money.

Illblazer said it best ....if its not hanging below which is how most s10's are and just the triangle plate is holding it up....there is a good tech article thatt dave made on s10forum.com ...really simple thing to do and like maybe 10 minutes of work.

But if its the other style x-member that is hanging about 1/2" below the frame reails on hte passenger side....then youll need to yank it and cut it down in that section so its even with your frame rails and plate it back in with some 1/4" plate.

I was going to take a pic of mine before installing it again cause had to have minme done that way also by Chad at Illicit Customs but forgot and slapped it back in before thinkin of it.
