Smoothing out back cab wall....

hey, im gettin ready to smooth out the back cab wall on my S10, and i was doin some research, just for kicks and i came accross a few ways ppl are doing it.
First way is, cutting a piece of sheet metal to fit, and placing it on the back cab wall, welding it in all around and smoothing it all out.
the other way i saw ppl doin it is bracing the back wall, and cutting it out, and replacing the piece with a flat piece of sheet metal, to smooth it out . then weld it in, and grind it down.
my question is, how have most of you guys done it? in that second way, did you nocice any weakness from switching from a ribbed and coutoured piece of sheet metal to a flat one? or are more ppl doing it the first way, to keep the stregnth....

Take some one by one square tubing and weld like three of them across for strength

yea i know that, but i wouldnt want to leave them thare when im done , because of the sheet metal console and battery boxes im building inside the cab, those bars would fuk with the design.
my question is, after removing them did anyone have any weakness issues. i dont have accesss to a beadroler, so i can make any ribs or anyting in my sheet metal to add any stregnth.

Um yeah there will be alittle weakness but if you weld your center counsel to it that will help

what about using some flat stock instead of the 1x1 tubing?

i was kinda sketchy about laying a piece on top but i saw a truck being done that way and it turned out real nice. just drill some holes in the factory cab wall and spot weld it across the back and weld it around the sides. you can do some bodywork and itll look factory smoothed. butt welding is gonna be a pain in the ass and its gonna flex without bracing

thats my truck in the pic u posted. i left the large thicker part under the rear window and cut out the rest. plug welded it to the big braced part and welded it the whole way around the outside. its 16g sheet along with the rest of my floor. it has no bracing behind it. if u look in this pic http://nissanminis.com/album_page.php?pic_id=22172&sid=5c77f7555bc7075ac1e7a506cc3ea7ee u can see how the new floor was welded to the wall.and especially having that angle bent in it made it plenty strong, it doesnt flex now and i have yet to get the drive shaft tunnel in, which that will make it stronger too. i wouldnt worry too much about flex, u gotta think about those people that do walk throughs remove all of it. and dont have tubing ran across there. that is an old pic the truck has a front wall and floor now. check out the rest of those pics and u can see it in some of them if u want.
