Just bought a Ford 289!!
I just bought a Ford 289 small block for my mini and I was wondering if someone could tell me where I could find good prices for all the extras I need to get it running. I.E. Distributor, water pump, heads, carb etc. I already know about EBAY but I was wondering if there are other one-stop shop places to find what I need at reasonable prices. The engine I just bought was completely rebuilt using new and reman'd parts and I was wondering if any of you might know the expected output from this engine could be. Maybe someone could advise me on a pakage deal that would net me around 300-350 hp. Ok well tell me all the good/bad of this motor. I'm eager to get started.
I have a 289 for my ranger also. If you rebuild stock, depending on your block code, you can expect between 220-240hp at the crank. I contacted a guy who works at a local performance shop who builds engine and he put together a package for me and my 289 will be putting out about 600hp at the crank (according to the software dyno). So you can go a crazy or as mild as want with these engines.
If you would like to talk with the guy I am talking to, let me know and I will get you in touch.
start with JEGS or SUMMIT, they have everything it seems like, then from there you can go to RACERWALSH if you want to get crazy hipo
