power steering pump pulley size

will changing a power steering pump pulley out for a smaller pulley hurt it ? I bought a chrome pulley for my pump but its smaller than the one thats on it. not that much smaller about 1 1/4 inches smaller.

well it would make it pump a hell of alot faster, i know that can be bad in other situations, dont know about p/s pumps.

i just actually measured and the difference in the pulleys is only 3/4 of an inch. somebody give me some insight.
