I'm in TN, does anyone know if it's "OK" to go w/out a bed on your truck?
no idea about TN sorry, i do know that in NH you would be crucified for even thinking about it
yea ive been wondering the same thing
I did it for about a month, no hood also for one of the weeks.. and one cop, at the gas station beside my highschool would walk over, bend down, and yell at me EVERY MORNING..
turns out he was mainly bitching about my "gas tank" being so exposed, which was really my air tank.. but he just kept yelling about "ive been an officer for longer than youve been alive so I KNOW!" and "ill have this thing impounded right now!" and wouldnt give me any real reasons..
i guess it depends on your city and all really.. other cops drove right beside/behind me and didnt do anything.
just throw a sheet of plywood on it and call it a flat bed! haha
i think it can be done if you have mud flaps or some sort of fenders over the tire so that your not spitting stuff everywhere
i drove around for about 2 weeks with no bed on my maz. when i had my mazda (when i lived outside of new orleans) i had a 5ft 2 inch tall newbie sheriff try to tell me all vehicles have to have at least 12 inches of ground clearance. all i said was 'corvette'. he shut up and i drove home with a fat ticket.
i know here in louisiana, to get away with it, you must have tail lights, fenders, and a bumper, you cant have exposed frame rails, one of my friends road around with his bed off for 6 weeks and no problems, he put his bumper back on and we tac welded some angle iron behind his wheels and duct taped some black carpet to it to make mud flaps lmao...
just call the local PD and ask. usually they want mudflaps, taillights, plate and plate lights, and a bumper.
i seen one guy drive around here in tn with out a bed i would just call but you know the cops if they hve anything to do with it they would say no
