S-10 charcoal canaster

can u ditch the stock S-10 charcoal can??? i have a 97 S-10 with the 4.3l v6 can i get rid of this or relocate it elsewhere ?

if you dont have emissions.. ditch it.. if you do, you can move it.

its not that hard to move it, i typically put it on the gas tank crossmember over the muffler. i wouldnt just get rid of it, theres really no reason to, and itll turn your SES light on, and cause your tank to build vacuum in some cases.

I originally tried removing mine. Truck ran like poop. So I put it back on and relocated it. Problem was fixed.

i have been wondering the same thing myself... on my 1990 4.3 tbi i found out the hose fell off the canaster who knows how long it was off, my truck was running fine... but what about that stupid black ball? do you guys just unplug that and ditch it?

Here is one that was just relocated at the shop, I say just take the extra little time to relocate it, its not like its a ton of work.

the black ball under the hood is the vacuum resevoir, it helps actuate the vent controls under your dash, without it they might not open all the way.

I relocated mine to the outside of the framerail on the other side of the gastank
