should i get it?opinions wanted!

been looking for a car to drive since the hurricane took my daily driver. i want to drive an older car but i was shooting for like a 62 falcon or 64 dodge 330. but i came across this 50 chevy deluxe 4 door today for sale. it runs amazingly and the body is in overall good shape. only thing that doesnt work is the speedo. its solid black with portirican chrome bumpers (painted silver cause it cost a good bit to dip em). im not looking to make this a project car.. just something to drive daily for now then sell later.... should i get it.... he said he'd take 4,500

Im not sure how much that would be worth, but if 4500 isnt all that much to you, i would definately get it. I probably wouldnt pay that, but you dont see many of those in good shape.

is it still 6 volt? 12 volt didnt come out until 56. this is not cheap for the car. if it is a 4 door which i think you said it was. it is a bit steep. i work for dennis carpenter ford reproductions and i have had a bunch of old cars. it is not a bad deal but not a good deal either. it is what it is worth maybe a bit more.

you could get a two door for the same price. you should try and haggle with him a bit. its like the dude above me said. its not a bad deal but its not a smoking deal either. its what i think is a FAIR asking price. I sold my 51 four door for 1000 bucks just to give you and idea. the badd ass 54 chevy that was used in monster garage my buddy sold them for 5400 bucks. that should give a good idea.

yea i agree with Big Ern,$4,500 is kinda pricey for a 4 door, I have a homie in baton rouge that has some stuff for sale, I can pass it along if you want to hit him up and check out what he has to offer

ya gotta be at the right place at right time or have luck in my case i picked up a 59 edsel ranger 2dr hardtop few weeks ago with optiomal super express v8 and auto 3 speed tranny all trim and minimal surface rust....500 car list from 2500-4000 in its condition..not running only handful made with options so it was a steal
so i say your deal may be steep but if ya like it thats what matters
also its only expensive if ya cant afford it

alos... it is converted to 12 volt. would you think it would be a better deal if i got it for 4,000? im not totally stocked out of my world on this car... just want to drive something older... didnt expect this old..... but you get the idea.

booger also... im not lokoing for something to fix up... im loking for something in good shape to drive everyday and not make a project out of. this car is in good shape...so this ar was my first option.

hey man check out collectorcartraderonline.com and they have a ubnch of stuff. just put in your area and amoutn you want to spend. just remember 55 year old car is not made for 75 mph highway runs for hours on end and what not. you willhave to work on it if it is stock. i dont care hopw nice it is.

just yesterday i was bragging about how good my green car runs and this morning i pulled it out...and quess what. the fucken water pump is leaking like a motherfucker...so ill add that to my to do list before fucken reso now. lol
