I'd like to relocate my battery and have a few questions. I can build the box for it myself, but need to know what gauge wire to use and how do I hook it up? Would I just extend the wires that hook up to the positive post and ground the negative post to the frame? I've never done this before so any info would be helpful. Thanks.
yea just extend the wires and make sure u get all your grounds back also. i would run 2 or 0 ga wire.
When I moved mine I used 0 ga. ,you can get it in black from any welding supply house. Put red shrink wrap on the ends of the + cables for safey!Solder your cable ends! Also I was told to run the ground back to the egine block.
i moved mine and used 4ga for the + and 2 ga grounds
thanks guys. I have some welding cable that I guess I could use. It looks like it'd be a little too thick though. I'll have to check the box for what gauge it is when I get to the garage tomorrow. I'll most likely just extend all the wires that are hooked to the battery now, both the positive and negative, so that way I can't go wrong. I just wasn't sure on the size wire to use. Thanks for the help.
just make sure you wire the grounds like they were factory.
im getting ready to do the same thing. im using a distribution block under the hood and running the wires back that way so i dont have to mess with the factory stuff.
