what is all your guys opinion on the Thermal Dynamics Plasma Cutters. i am looking into getting one but have not heard to much about them. also witch model should i get, the 38 or the 51. the 51 can cut 3/4 in, the 38 can cut up the 3/8 in. i dont really need to cut a lot of really think stuff, but at the same time i dont want to get the smaller one and wish i had the bigger one later on.

i think the small fab shop at my work uses the thermal dynamic plas cutters, and they use them every day, 16hrs a day......so they last, and deal with abuse.

The larger fab shop at work uses all miller plas cutters, but they are severing .5 plate and larger.

i personally use a Miller Spectrum 2050, its great, my advice is the get the larger one, you never know when it will come in handy.

My buddy has a hypertherm380 at the shop. its wired for 220 now and will cut 3/8", and cuts up to 1/4" pretty cleanly. Its nice and small and comes wired for 110V, although it probably wont cut as well.
The handle doesnt hold up so well when u use it as a hammer though. haha.

The cutmaster 38 is nice because it can be switched from 110v to 220v. So if you ever take it somewhere that there isn't a 220v outlet you can still use it, although the cutting capacity wont be as high.

i have the miller spectrum 375, works fine for light duty, up to 1/2.

when i got my plasma , i was told that Thermal Dynamics only makes plasma cutters and parts are easy to find. He said "look at that wall (it was big), those are all thermal replacment parts. See those 4 bins over there? that is the miller replacement parts" I guess it could be where you live but they like the thermal here. I have rented both and they both work well. I have the miller spectrum 375 and the tip is sometimes touchy and errors. the thermal i rented we used non stop with no tip errors for about 6 months.
