building a notch TUBING SIZE????

is this size tubing good enough for a notch? I have a shit load of this laying around from a few odd jobs I have done, and was curious if it would be strong enough for a notch?

yea what size 2x3x.188 for a mini or 2x4x.188 full size 2x4x.25 for dually

I would use 2x3x1/4 wall for a mini.

you could probably make it work, but just to cut 6 pieces and weld them together, id say probably not.

if you gusseted the inside corners and outside corners where the notch meets the frame, id say youd be pretty safe. ill draw up a quick little something to show what what i mean

that would make good cross bars but no notch

i use 2x3x3/16 for anything just for a notch, even got it on my f/s chevy and pull a trailer too.

heres what i was talkin about. for the gussets (red), you can just angle cut some tubing to fit.
