(I saw GameOver let him use it but still my 2 cents)

That'd be stealing. You should never alter anyones work without asking for their permission.

so, all the pictures that people use of the STOCK s10, or Dakota, or the WHEELS they want or the background they want... that's not stealing why?

If you do a quick search and find the STOCK truck you want on Google image search, and you start there, explain to me how you didn't steal the image to begin with?

I'm not seeing the difference...

someone tell me know stealing someone else's base "rendering" is different than stealing someone's picture of their truck in their driveway and photoshopping it.

i have gm media access and ford.. Chrysler and several other sources with permission to use them its not stealing if they dont have a copyright on them and even so it wont hold up in court if u photoshop it...

none of it will hold up in court, who actually has a business license and trade mark and copyrights registered with anyone?

just saying, it's all a manipulation someone else's work anyway. I highly doubt any of these rendering farms are going out and doing photo shoots of their customers whips and then modeling all the parts in 3d and shit...

either way. it's all baloney.

i think dougy takes his own pictures and nick does too.. its easier for me to just find pictures and get permission

and seth hit me up about your rendering

It pretty much comes down to if you can recognize where the original photo or image came from your infringing on the original copyright. As far as reference material for completing a rendering I sit in a slightly different area as the ones I create are completed in Illustrator but I will use every thing from magazines, online photos, and photos that I take myself. Some renderings I will trace out the image others I will actually sit down and sketch out before I even begin working on the computer.

i say if the rendering is for yourself and not a customer, and it looks different than the other one then i say its ok, who cares

this is a serious question for ya(not trying to be an A_hole at all). where do you get all the pics for your renderings and what do you consider a legit source of pics for renderings?

there are alot of legit sources on the net, but the best source to have "But sometimes takes a while to track cars down" is buying a high res camera and taking pics for yourself!

the only real legit source of pictures to use for a rendering are the pictures you take but even then the vehicle in the picture wasn't built by you, so for everyone to get technical i think its dumb, no matter what what ever you start with was not yours to begin with so theres no real way to draw the line, as long as your not rippin off peoples work left and right and bein cocky about it then who really cares. i would start your rendering with a rendering someone else did though, because you'll never get better if you do that=)but if you want to feel more legit i say just start building up a stack of photos that you've taken yourself.i got like 4 gigs of stuff ive been compiling over the years. parts accessories rims tires brakes interiors almost every car i could think of, if i see something usable i save it for later when that job comes along i can just look through my stock pile.

I see nothing wrong with you doing it. You are not selling it and are giving credit to the person who originally used other peoples work without asking them.
