i want to get your suggustions on what i should do, as far as what type, and what mods i should do on a motor for daily driving and towing a mid/full cars and trucks. i was thinking of building a low compression 383 stroker motor. so what you think. oh yeah besides diesel motors
i wonder what the avg. gas milage is on a 454 vs. the stroker. i would guess almost the same.
Go for a Big Block. My uncle has one in his dually and his work truck, both carbed with 33s. They both get 11 MPG average, towing or not, doesn't matter.

i wo udlnt suggest a stroker unless you plan on reaming the piss out of it... higher rpm's are where stroker motors pull the power from
if your gonna be towing slap a big block 454 in it and be done with it
WTF are you talking about? Stroker motors are known for low end power. More stroke, low end power, less stroke is better for high RPMs.
right seth. thats why i was thinking a low compression stroker. i have a small block waiting for me in my friends grandpas barn(freebie) i've found a stroker kit online for about 600, and for about 1000 more i can get all the other crap i need. i think 1600 for a stroker is damn good.
A 383 with 96 up vortec heads, a good roller cam,1.6 roller rockers a 625 road demon carb should put you in the 400hp and 400+tq. This setup should get about 15-16mpg highway with no trailer.

shutup i was high when i wrote thatand the 383 stroker in my friends 82 silverado revs out to almost 10 grand and doesnt really shit and get until it hits 5+
454 would still be better for towingso it doesnt matter..
