You shouldn't need a whole new driveshaft. I know from experience that you can take the damaged shaft to a shop to have a new tube put on it. The ends are usually still salvagable even after bouncing off the ground. The trick would be finding a good driveline shop in the area. It would most likely be cheaper as well compared to a whole new driveshaft.

i can get a new one for around 100$
is that reasonable? or shoudl i look into a driveline shop still? i really dont want to add any time to my stay, lol, so i will probably just go with the reasonable priced option, that is most convient.
if its salvageable, then ill be very happy also
Thanks again everyone.

the driveline shop i use around here can put a tube in way less than $100 around $60 but i always thought he was cheap so i dont know what to tell you. in your shoes i would get $100 replacement and get on with it.

100 bucks sounds pretty cheap, if you find a rear end at a salvage yard, ask them about the driveshaft, they might throw it in since your paying them an arm and a leg! As far as paying someone to put it in, we will get the truck to my house and put it in, no need to spend alot of extra money for something the two us can do in a couple of hours

auctually, they only quoted me 200$ to throw the rear end in....., which i didnt think was that bad. Hell, they wanted to charge me 140 to tow it to lousiville....
idk, i guess i will find out for sure what im doing in the morning. Gonna try and get some sleep tonite, take care of all this in the morning.
Thanks

If you can get a good driveshaft for $100, grab it. It's a good deal. Just make sure it's balanced or it could shake the hell out of your u-joints causing you more greif down the road. Mind you if the weights are still on it, you're not gonna know if it's balanced or not until your cruisin' down the freeway anyhow.
Even if you had to retube yours they should be able to turn it around for you in a rush so you don't have to stay stranded.
Just trying to watch your back!

OK
i THINK i have this all figured out now. My dad is going to pick up a rear end for me on his way down here, we found one here for a good price, so hes gonna grab that one, and shoot down here. I also found a wrecker yard that is gonna tow my truck to them, and let me use their lift and garage and tools to change it our.
i think i have this taken care of....hopefully!
thanks everyone for the help,
Taylor
