Making the engine look purdy....

Hey guys, well since my engine is out for the body drop I decided to detail it. I have a few questions though....

1.I want to color match my engine block to my exterior paint. Is there an additive needed to add to the paint to resist the heat of the block or a special high temp primer? I looked at the rattle can high temp paint and none are an exact match to my exterior paint. I'm only going to do this once so I want to do it right so it lasts.

3.I was thinking of going with some JBA headers to replace my manifolds. Do you guys have problems with headers turning blue?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

when I did my motor I went to finishmaster automotive paint shop and bought primer and color for motors. I forget what the system is, but it worked pretty good.

Are these headers chrome? If so yes they will turn blue/gold when hot after being ran.

have the headers jethot coated, you wont have to worry about them "blueing". as for the motor, clean clean clean it till you cant clean it no more.pressure wash but dont use aerosol degressar, as its pretty much just diesal fuel.

This might be a dumb question, but if they are jet-hot coated can they still be chromed/polished? I thought jet-hot coatings only came in colors.

PS - Thanks for the replies guys!!

If your having a problems with blueing, try bluejob, it will take that off. They have it on amazon.

Well, I've researched the Jet-hot and it seems like the way to go. It comes in a finish very close to chrome and I won't have to worry about the part "blueing". Only thing is, instead of buying a set of $500 headers and then putting money into having them Jet-hot coated I would just get my factory exhaust manifolds Jet-hot coated. I'm not into performance, but it might be nice to have a little extra torque and a more stronger chrome finish so I was wondering if I did decide to get some chrome headers does this "bluejob" or "blue B gone" (sold at Eastwood) work 100% at removing blue/gold??

Ah ok. I guess I have to weigh the cost difference then. Thanks for all your help James.

Now, anyone know about painting the engine block? Por 15 has a kit and I thought about just using their first coat to act like a primer (and disapate the heat) and then use base coat clear of the exterior color on top of that.

what color is the truck gonna be? cant you use something that is a different color, like silver, to accent it? then just do killer prep and paint it with high temp rattle can. its how we do ours. not show rigs, but it works good. base clear can take some pretty good heat though. and what about powdercoating the parts? they are baked on at like 400*, so im doubting much but stuff near exhaust will get that hot.
