SSM - Overhauling the magazine

Hey guys, after carefull consideration, and talking a little with people in chat, i would like your opinions on this.

70% of SSM's costs month to month are the magazine. The popularity of the magazine is dropping over the years and many people don't really pay much attention to it. I have an idea...

We could lower the prices of memberships and lossen the restrictions throughout the site if we changed or did away with the magazine in its current form. I would like to keep doing show coverage like we have been (but maybe even more) but do it more like photo galleries insted of the magazine format.

Also would like to get more of the prominent minitruckers involved. Get them to write some articles for us about the scene and the "down and dirty of minitruckin'". Make SSM into more of a "for minitruckers, by minitruckers" site. Difference is, you know we can do it better than the others out there.

Several people have talked about a shop directory. etc. Basically, i think that for half the cost of the current magazine, we could do more things you might actually be interested in. Like keep up with industry manufacturers and shops that have specials running, what have you.

I leave it open for your comments and ideas...

also, this would allow us to release coverage WHEN WE GET IT unstead of waiting for the issue.

Sounds good 2 me. The sooner teh coverage the better.

I think it is a good idea, i only look at the mag for the show coverage anywayz.......

i like the magazine, but mostly for the coverage. yeah there are tons of sites that do coverage, but alot of times you see different stuff. i like the idea of the galleries and adding different stuff. i pay every yr and have been around since like 01 maybe 02. its come along way since then. keep up the good Hard work you all do to bring this site to us.

i say go for it if it will make it able to do all this other stuff.

kinda sucks for people like me who didnt buy the membership for the million pictures i can upload and for the million profiles. i pretty much bought the membership to check out the mag.

I think having show coverage come out the day after the show would be just as good if not better... and have other articles that are fun to read... basically try to fill SSM up with alot more information... better tech articles, etc..

magazines have to be printed to be worth reading it seems like, i say do it, cut costs, more show coverage and lets do it, fuck the mag.
