re up for the firefighters (Mark and Dave Price) replying to this thread. I have seen the bad of people getting seriously injured and one time cooked alive as well. I have also seen all that prevented from exactly what we are talking about.
NOTE What an extinguisher does really well is removing the ignition source (the fire) from the fuel thus stopping the buring. Each extinguisher has certain ratings based on the size of fire they are able to extinguish in normal combustables, fuel, electiric or metal fires. There are some great ones that will take care of the first three and its pretty much standard for an extinguisher to be able to take care of both fluid and normal fires. Yeah, worst case scenario 15 gallons is alot of fuel to extinguish but really, your fuel tank would have to taco open to dump that out.
Also, I know some might hate on me saying this but I feel it is important to know how to use the extinguisher. So in a controlled area, where a fuel fire cant get out of hand, light it up and put it out. Better to get the hang of it in a practice situation than to wait for it to really happen.
Long story short, TiHs does happen whether your ride is stock or cut up, having one within reach can make the difference of the life of you and someone else in addition to your prized possession becoming a piece of tIhS.
good thread by the way
