I am a fireman. You can put a huge fire out with a little fire ext. I have had to use one to save someone else who was trapped in a buring car too. So, if not for you, then someone else.

having a fire extinguisher is a good idea, but its a better idea to be safe when building the vehicle in the first place, people care more about draggin than building it safe. the way i see it, the dumb people will lose their rides or maybe get lucky, but i know mines not gonna catch on fire

Exactly if not for yourself do it for someone else that might need it. They might be stuck on the side of the road. Forget the vehicle it could save someone's baby from a fire....

...dude are you serious. there are so many variables that can happen. are all your wires for the entire truck going to be incased in a metal sheild? are you not going to run gas? the smallest thing can start a fire. i was trying to start my truck and some how after months and months of my starter being on a wire grouned out and started a fire. luckily i saw it and i was able to blow it out. you never know.

I must say I have to agree. I got a good scare in my truck not too long ago. When I took it to that shop to have smog worked out, they said they had ot bleed the clutch. Well in the process of filling the reservoir, they got brake fluid everywhere (including on my dash which is startign to peel......). I didn't notice this because they dash was all reassembled when I got it back. So while driving it about a day after that my stereo shut off, and smoke started pouring out of my dash. I pulled off and it stopped, so I limped it home about 1/2 mile.

When I pulled the dash apart, that brake fluid had eaten away the lining on several wires, and one grounded to the dash and shut off my radio and electric fan. Luckily I only had to replace a few wires and fuses, and luckily my truck didn't burn down. But I was on a back road, and I could have had to say goodbye to Frank that day. I will invest in one myself.

Fire is bad. It does happen. Race cars have wiring fires or parts that catch on. Factory built cars have fires. Why aren't they in new cars and just airbags are in? You can't buy a new car if you are dead. Companies don't care if it burns to the ground as long as you are alive to buy another ride. But hey what does a fireman know about stopping fires. They never do that on a daily basis.

tell you guys I work for a company called "OXARC" they sell welding supplies, but i am a FIRE TECH, which means i sell and service fire extinguishers, so i know the ins and outs. I'll tell you right now. a 2 1/2 pound is not gonna save your ride. Please if you get a fire ext (witch i really recomend) get a 5 pound or a halon. Although halon is bad for the evironment it will put out a fire. Halatron is the environment friendlly predisesser. Trust me it is a very good idea to carry one.

If some one is super hurting for one, I just may be able to help you out

i always carry one, but if it starts to burn there isnt much you can do, specially if its by the gas tank.
