North Carolina Inspection

Dude, I wasn't trying to be smart or anything just offering the advise. turns out mine in the cavalier was the 02 sensor ont he exhaust. when I drive it long distances it trips on cuz I have the cat gutted. and reseting the code worked for me. not sure how far I drove to get it inspected but it was across town. so I could have gone 20 miles or so that would account for it passing fine. so that makes since. anyways. thats why I like my95 Hardbody and 91 CRX. nothing but safety inspection for them. :-D

So let me get this right. You can clear the codes. And then drive however long it takes`and the light will cut off? And just drive to the inspection place without cutting off your vehicle and you will pass? I might have that way out of context but thats what I got out of this so far. Slap me if I am wrong.

thats pretty much it. depending on the code. Some codes will come right back whne you clear them. depending on what it is. but if its a code that will pop right back I would suggest just fixing whatever problem it is witht he truck and move on. but its a good trick to try if you are in a bind. I was too. God a ticket for out of inspection. on the other hand its just a fixit ticket so there won't be any court costs or anything. just the anoyance of going to traffic court to show them it was fixed.

And the truck has to be running when you clear the codes? Or is it just you just don't cut the truck off until you get at the inspections place? Is it better the drive like 20 miles before or do it as close as possible?

Thanks to everyone who had some adive. Got the truck inspected today. The light was on for an oxygen sensor.
