The dash is out and sold. I am working on a custom fiberglass one. I looked down where it usually plugs in to test and I didn't see it. Is it part of the dash or am I blind?

Another question I have is my guage panel is pluged up and everything is working except the odometer. Any reason why that is? I checked all the fuses.

dude, just hook up a code reader and clear the code. then run really fast to get the inspection before it pops back on. LOL better yet carry the code reader with you and do it right before you get the inspection. I have had to do that before on my cavalier. fortunately my truck doesn't need anything but a safety inspection.

Well dude.... Obviously I wasn't aware that you could clear the codes. If thats possible then it should cut the light out right?

I had a similar problem with my ranger, my check engine light was on so i went to my normal inspector and he checked the code for me and cleared it. well i was needing to get the truck inspected, well if you turn off the truck the code would pop back up, but if you drove the truck it wouldnt. the problem is, is that when you clear the code you have to drive the truck and turn it off and on etc (run it through a few cycles)to get the truck to pass inspection that is if the light doesnt come back on and the code comes back. mine ended up being my speed sensor in my rear end so i replaced it (it also caused my speedometer not to work). once you reset the code the computer has to "reset" so to speak thats why it has to be cycled through. i agree with james too, i real dont think it throwing a code for the wipers, my wiper cowl is shaved and i dont even have my windshield washer resevoir anymore because of the 20's. the computer will fail your truck anytime the check engine light is on if it is throwing a code so no one would be able to inspect it anyway because of the computer. hope this helps you, good luck

the emissions part of a north carolina inspection consist of the inspection machine reading the ecm for the "readiness" status of a set of emissions devices. In order to pass, you must not have more than 2 not ready (1996-2000) or more than 1 (2001+).
when there is a dtc (diagnostic trouble code) and your check engine light is on, unplugging the bulb does not help since the inspection machine will know what the command status of the light will be (either commanded on or off).
wether you repair the problem causing the dtc or not, soon as you reset the light, you also reset all of your readiness status and the vehicle will have to be driven through the specified drive cycles. just driving around town for several miles should be enough, however, i have seen some that were driven well over 50 miles without being able to pass.
now if you just reset the light, you will have to drive your truck until you have no more than 2 items in the not ready status and hope that the check engine light does not come back. with that said, i don't ever recall seeing a trouble code for a washer fluid sensor. i would go by a parts store or somewhere that will pull a code for cheap or free then go from there. btw, has there been anything else under the hood removed or disconnected?

Just move to South Carolina, we dont have vehicle inspections down here.
We could always use more minitruckers down this way anyways.

I have removed both reseviors and that is all. Maybe an oxygen sensor too. But hell that was out like 2 years ago. Also the dash is out now too.
