just remember you get what you pay for. Do you really want to put a $40,000 truck on a $800.00 trailer.

it's only worth about $5k, even though i have about $16k into it (not counting price of the truck)

well if the new ones are $1600 and youve already allowed $1000 go ahead and throw in that extra $600 i convinced you not to spend on that hot rod air and get a new one!
yeah, but i'm keeping the air, just modding the airbox, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
don't mean to jack your thread man, but if a truck comes with a towing package does it have the necessary wiring to hook up a trailer brake controller? I have an '06 Silverado LT with towing package, but I have never towed a truck or used trailer brakes before.

if you have the big round 7 pin outlet, it has a spot for trailer brakes, you just have to hook it up. They're really easy to do , you can get one from auto zone for like 6 bucks. you just have to tie into your line to the trailer.
Your truck should have a 4.7 if it a ram 1500. No matter what you have spent on the truck you do not want to see in in the ditch because you saved $600.00 on the trailer. The ram 4.7 will pull it ok just make sure you keep the trans. in it serviced. and make sure your truck has the 90/140 sen. fluid in the rearend. I work for dodge and see a lot of these trucks.
just my 2 cent, good luck with it. TOW SLOW till you get the hang of it.
yeah, no doubt. thanks for the advice. i towed my buddy's empty trailer back to his house and it was definitely different, i can't imagine towing one loaded without a trailer brake.
