Do you mean acetone? Like the stuff that's in fingernail polish remover? I don't understand the concept of using it on your emblems, why are you doing this? There are lots of metal polishes and cleaners that would be far more effective- acetone is very corrosive. I would say yes to taking them off first, but I still don't understand this concept, please explain it to me!

a couple people said it was fine, if you acetone your emblems it makes them look like chrome... it just takes the black off the plastic... just wondering..chill

well, if it REMOVES nail polish and hardwood laquer (I spilled some on a table once), chances are it's gonna jack up your paint too.

Why don't you just buy chrome emblems?

Are you sure the black parts on the emblem are chromed and not just the black plastic substrate? If it is paint, acetone will work. Don't throw it in a bucket and leave it, use an ear swab and go light.

Oh, now I understand- I didn't know that you were talking 'bout removing that black stuff from behind an F-150 badge, that looks pretty good, actually. I do hope you take them off first, though. Good luck!
