bye bye chrome

Does anyone have experince stripping chrome from wheels, eaither to get them re-chromed or painted, etc?

Im looking at a set of wheels for my Ford but most the chrome is flaking off, so i want to buy the wheels and get them powder coated black.

can you sand blast the chrome off with out damaging the metal? or is there a chemical i should look into?

The person who will do the powder coating should be able to remove the chrome. Call who ever you are going to use and ask them.
