which motor should i go with?

i just recently purchased a 91 civic hatchback and it doesn't have a motor in it. I can get the factory motor for it but i've had several people tell me to put a different motor in it like a b16a or b16b or an h22 just not sure what to go with. i want a good amount of horses just not ridiculus. i also want to be able to get parts at a reasonable cost. any suggestions?

b18c1 'tegra gsr motor

i've seen alot of mods for the 1.6L factory motor. alot of which are cheap and i could very well pass 400 horses. how much of a difference would it be for the b18c1 integra gsr motor. are there alot of mods for that motor? sights i could look on? any help would be appreciated.

if it still has the OEM transmission in it, i would say get a D16z6 (1.6L SOHC VTEC motor) from a 92-95 Civic EX/Si as its a direct bolt in and has many tuning options for it. they are plentiful to find and are pretty cheap. as far as sites go, try hondaswap.com. good technical resource site with many helpful people.

Just really depends how much you wanna spend and how fast you want it. Personaly I would go with a sohc vtec swap and turbo if your on a budget. If you have a little more money do an LS or GSR turbo.

The answer depends on a budget. If you have the dough, go with a B20 bottom end and either a B16 or B18 top. This will give you more low end torque. In Cali, it is hard to get these swaps to pass, unlss you know people, if you are elsewhere, it shouldn't be a problem.

I think B16A or B will have the cheapest parts. I was looking for stuff for my H22 and found hordes of stuff for b16's.

basic swap is usually b16 cheap and easy....if u have ever been in a h22 hatch its ridiculously fast! b18 will rock that little hatch and makes just more horse then u probably need in a little car like that. my vote b18c5!!!

put a b16a2 in. 170hp. easy

h22 with a turbo ,that will kill ya. lite fast and huals ass.
