ok, this is my take on the whole increased gas prices deal. I know some of you may think i am stupid but oh well just hear me out. I think that whenever they raise the gas prices, they drop in an additive or find some way to make the gas thinner or more lean or something to make it burn faster. This because the faster it burns, the more trips you have to take to the station to refill in turn making them more money. Now i have proof to back up this theory of mine. I have a 95 ford ranger splash with a 2.3 4 cyl. motor. On average a 1/4 of a tank of gas will last me about 4-5 days to work and home and i average about 90-100 miles on that 1/4 tank of gas. Thats 10 miles to work and 10 miles home. Anyway, i put in like 5 dollars yesterday when the gas was like 2.00/gal. and it gave me a 1/4 tank of gas. So i drive 10 miles to work and 10 miles home. I did the same thing today equaling 40 miles and now im on empty. I really think they are thinning out the gas or doing something to make it burn twice as fast so they can jip everybody. Also, i have a 95 sonoma with the 2.2 4 cyl. Last sunday i installed new oil, oil filter, air filter, egr valve, spark plugs, plugs wires, and fuel filter. So i put gas in it and its doing as bad if not worse than the ranger. I put gas in the sonoma at a totally different gas station. Keep in mind this is me driving normal, not dogging or reving up or anything...I am really stumped on this one, but i know for a fact that when the gas prices go up suddenly, my gas mileage is terrible. Any other time its great and i average like 380-400 miles to a tank. Also, the ranger only has like 120k miles and the sonoma 105k. Its too much of a coincidense (sp?) for this to happen to both of my trucks, my girlfriends truck, all of my friends rides and my mom and dad's. Can anybody else relate to this situation? Is there an explanation for it, or is the government rippin us off thinking we are unaware. And please dont flame me thinking this is thread about me complaining about the prices, i am just stating that i think they make the gas burn more so you have to spend more...sorry for the book but i had to vent
