Joining Armed Forces

Thinking about joining the armed forces, anyone want to tell me the pro's and cons of it...need to get out of here and get a better job ect college didnt work out for me...i was looking at the coast guard...as a maintenece/machinery technician...I know a bunchof you are involved in different branches so any infowould be appreciated..
