Need info on engines

Ok so I need you guys to help me out here. All these years I have spent around cars and trucks, I dont know JACK FUCKING SHIT about engines. I know A little, but not enough to count.

Can someone post up some links to some sort of write up to help me out with learning about all of these different honda/civic engines? I am looking to buy a hatchback and will probably do an engine swap depending, and would like to know what its all about and what to look for.
