fuel cell question; re filler neck

does anyone know if it will matter much what size pipe I put on my aluminum fuel cell to attach the rubber filler neck to the tank? I was thinking of using 1-1/2" but I wondered if that would let the gas into the tank fast enough? Is there any kind of general rule for this??
