To shave or not to shave

I have a full size chevy and Iam shaving everything on it, and I was wondering what your guys thoughts were on shavin the CAB SEEM. Will it end up crakin if I weld sheet metal then fill with a little bit of fiberglass? I dont want to shave it then it start crakin after I sprayed my candy on there. Thanks.
