Tranny only working in 4th gear

So i have a 87 mighty max 2.0 5 speed I just put a tranny in it that was saposed to be "good" but in install it and the only gear that works is 4th. Same as the old tranny that i pulled from the truck. Im stumped. Clutch lets out fine in 4th gear. But when i put it in any other gear nuthing happens. Just a slight humm

is the shifter loose ??? are you missing the nylon bushing on the end of the shifter ????

Shiter is tight and feels good. New bushing didnt fix anything. Even with the shifter off you can putnit in gear and nuthing happens other than 4th Im stumped.

Trans is toast, not the shifter. You have a broken guts and the only reason that 4th gear works is because Mitsu built the trans to fail in this fashion. The KM-145 trans for the 2.6L does the same thing. Time for a rebuild, sadly.
